The SSL Annex has been given the “Global SSL Award for Outstanding Achievement” from the International Solid State Lighting Alliance on 27 November in Xiamen, China. This award recognises the thirteen years of research, reports and other information that the SSL Annex has shared with the global lighting community.
Join us for the Energy Efficient Electric Motor Systems webinar on 14 November NZDT (13 November CET), exploring the efficiency potential of electric motor systems, new and existing tools for assessing motor system efficiency, and breakthrough Wide Band Gap (WBG) semiconductor technology.
Preliminary findings from the IEA 4E SSL Annex show that environmental impact for T5 lamps can be reduced by 44% and for T8 lamps by 61% if they are replaced by LED retrofit tubes. These are LED “plug-and-play” retrofit tubes that can be installed directly into existing fluorescent fixtures.
Over the past decade, EDNA has provided policy guidance aimed at improving the efficiency of smart devices and associated systems. In recent years EDNA has done a lot of work in the area of ‘demand flexible’ devices.
Since 2014 EDNA – the Electronic Devices and Networks Annex of 4E – has helped its 14 member countries to better understand digital technologies. Our extensive research into how policies can both encourage ‘energy smart digital devices’, and minimise the additional energy used to connect devices to the internet, has resulted in more than 60 publications.
The call for abstracts for the 13th International Conference on Energy Efficiency in Motor Driven Systems (EEMODS) is launched. Abstracts are due until 15 November 2023.
On 9 October 2023, the SSL Annex held a webinar on new features in smart lighting that impact energy consumption delivered by Casper Kofod, an Expert based in Copenhagen, Denmark. The webinar summarised the findings from a report on Smart Lighting published last year.
PECTA proudly served as an institutional partner at the highly anticipated EPE 2023 Conference. This prestigious collaboration highlighted PECTA’s commitment to advancing technological innovation and fostering knowledge exchange on a global scale.
The SSL Annex has launched its 2023 Interlaboratory Comparison (IC 2023) of temporal light modulation (TLM) measurements. IC 2023 is open to all photometric labs that have capability for measuring TLM quantities, in particular, short-term flicker indicator (PstLM), and stroboscopic effect visibility measure (SVM), of LED lighting products.
The summary of key findings is now available in a new Policy Brief.
A new PECTA paper has been published. This paper focuses on the effects of incorporating GaN components for energy conversion on the product design and the resulting environmental impacts along the life cycle, in particular for the case of consumer chargers for electronic devices such as notebooks and mobile phones.
EMSA will host a workshop on ‘digitalisation in industrial electric motor driven systems’ on 19 September 2023.
From 1 July 2023, electric induction motors with a rated output between 75 kW and 200 kW must meet the requirements of efficiency class IE4 (or better) in the European Union.
PECTA is the official institutional partner of the EPE conference 2023. There will be several PECTA sessions from September 5th – 7th, 2023, presenting all PECTA’s research and policy making work.
EMSA expert Konstantin Kulterer shares his views in a recent interview about the digitalisation of motor systems. What is the status and what are the main opportunities?
Led by EMSA and ACEE, discussion within the international standardisation community resulted in the establishment of the ISO & IEC Joint Advisory Group JAG 22.
