About the 4E SSLC Platform
Solid State Lighting (SSL) can provide high-quality, energy-efficient lighting that surpasses traditional technologies at a lower life-cycle cost. However, there is a wide variation in the performance and quality of SSL products currently found on the market, and some of the poor-quality products could undermine consumer confidence in SSL, delaying market adoption and the associated energy and environmental benefits.
Launched in July 2010, the IEA 4E SSL Annex was a joint initiative of seven countries working together to address challenges with SSL technologies. The SSL Annex member countries recognised the significant advantages in engaging in an international collaboration and joint activities relating to SSL performance and quality. Today the sponsoring governments of the SSLC Platform include Australia, Denmark, France, Korea, Sweden and the United Kingdom.
