3rd PECTA Workshop with Experts

34 International experts discussed the progress of the 7 tasks of the Power Electronics Conversion Technology Annex PECTA in a successful online workshop!

A key objective of PECTA is developing the knowledge and evidence base for promoting policies for efficient energy conversion enabled by Wide Band Gap technologies.

PECTA is now in its established phase, and is making significant progress and contributions at the time that it reaches out to a broader community of international experts and decision makers.

On April 27, 2022 the leading experts of the 7 PECTA Tasks presented their progress, focusing on complex and emerging issues such as the calculated efficiency in the field for applications using SiC and GaN; as well as on the environmental aspects and impacts resulting from designing devices and components with these materials. The compilation of information on trends, maturity and adoption, and how to best reflect this in readiness maps and over time was another perspective of interest to industry and academic experts attending the workshop. Finally, the highly technical concepts for developing measurement protocols on WBG topologies, as well as unique demonstrators in the field were discussed.

This ongoing work is the base for another key PECTA task, which explores suitable policy approaches, and will describe possible energy efficiency instruments for specific WBG applications.

The PECTA management committee and the Operating agent provided an overview of next activities and coming events, including a foreseen large PECTA conference towards the end of 2023. More content of the PECTA tasks will be showcased at that time – stay tuned for more on PECTA!
