From 24 July 2026, new EU ecodesign requirements for industrial fans become applicable under Regulation (EU) 2024/1834. The new regulation raises the minimum energy efficiency requirements for fans driven by motors from 125 W to 500 kW, encouraging the deployment of more efficient fan technologies across industry and buildings.
In addition to stricter efficiency requirements, Regulation (EU) 2024/1834 introduces enhanced product information obligations:
- Manufacturers must provide more comprehensive performance data, including information relevant to part-load operation, helping designers and users make better-informed purchasing decisions.
- The regulation also strengthens resource-efficiency provisions by setting requirements on the availability and maximum delivery time of spare parts, as well as access to repair and maintenance information for professional repairers.
The new requirements apply from 24 July 2026, while the new part-load performance information becomes mandatory from 24 July 2027.
