4E EMSA's goal

The goal of the Electric Motor Systems Platform (EMSA) is to increase energy efficiency and reduce greenhouse gas emissions worldwide by promoting highly efficient electric motor systems. To achieve this, EMSA aims to transform the global market for motor systems by working at each level, as shown below. In particular:

  • Contribute to the development of robust international technical standards that are well-suited for regulatory use, taking into account evidence-based, real-life operating conditions and the energy performance of products already available on markets.
  • Encourage the uptake of international standards in national regulations for greater international alignment of technical standards and regulations, taking into account the different levels of development of different economies.
  • Enhance international exchange on policy experience, challenges and lessons learned.
  • Help policy makers design and implement effective motor systems policies for a market transformation towards efficient electric motor systems.
  • Build capacities of engineers working for motor and machine manufacturers and of industrial motor systems end users.
  • Support best practices for an optimised operation of motor systems.
  • Raise awareness on the large energy savings potential in motor systems and showing the ways to implement these.
