EMSA formulates nine recommendations for policy makers in a new report which summarises its research on the digitalisation of electric motor systems of the past three years.
The report details obstacles to a wider implementation of digitalisation in industry based on interviews, such as the need for standardised data formats, lack of competence, scarce resources, low awareness, strict profitability requirements, difficulties in data collection & handling and concerns around cybersecurity.
A description of relevant policy programmes, such as R&D funding, R&D tax incentives, knowledge transfer, capacity building, etc., from four countries (Austria, Netherlands, Sweden, Switzerland) is included together with policy recommendations.
The report also includes a summary of all other EMSA publications on this subject that were published in 2024.
All EMSA publications on digitalisation in electric motor systems in 2024:
- Part I: Findings for policy makers (this report, includes a summary of Parts II – III – IV)
- Part II: Technical recommendations for industrial end-users
- Part III: Catalogue of case studies
- Part IV: Energy consumption due to the digitalisation of electric motor systems
