‘Coordination and Alignment of IEC and ISO Standards for Energy Efficient Electric Motor Driven Systems’ kicked off

The IEC Advisory Committee on Energy Efficiency (ACEE) TG6 launched on 20 September 2019 in Tokyo the project ‘Coordination and Alignment of IEC and ISO Standards for Energy Efficient Electric Motor Driven Systems’ (CAISEMS).

Representatives from three IEC and three ISO technical committees, from universities, research and government participated at the Tokyo workshop and agreed on the way forward to improve the cooperation between the TCs involved.

Well-coordinated and operated Electric Motor Driven Systems (EMDS) have the biggest potential for energy savings. At least 3 IEC and 6 ISO TCs are directly involved in EMDS and have already drafted or published energy efficiency publications. The current level of interaction of the 9 TCs can be intensified and common terminology, boundary definitions, testing standards operating points, efficiency classification, etc. can be defined in the future. The goal is to lower the barriers for a successful market development of energy efficient motor driven systems.

Interested parties are invited to join the CAISEMS project group. The next meeting is planned to be as a side-event to the Motor Summit on 20 November 2020 in Zurich Switzerland.
