EDNA publishes new report on ‘idle coefficients’ for data centres and servers

EDNA has published a new report which develops and outlines the concept of  an ‘idle metric’ for data centres and servers, which  can be used by policy makers.

The advantage of these metrics is that they do not need ‘useful work’ data, which are difficult to obtain.  Rather the idle metrics examine the energy used when servers are idle.

The report outlines the system boundaries, explains the mathematics and discusses the availability of the data needed to calculate these metrics.
